The Era of the Elders

Unlocking the Time and Wisdom of Older Adults as a New Natural Resource.

Eldera was founded with a singular conviction: older adults aren't causing the loneliness epidemic. They are the cure.

Our mission is to unlock the time and wisdom of older adults as a new natural resource for all generations to thrive. We do this by connecting vetted adults 60+ with youth ages 6–17 for weekly virtual mentoring sessions, building protective relationships that reduce loneliness on both sides of the connection.

Safety is our primary infrastructure. Every session transcript is reviewed by our proprietary AI Chaperone, not to surveil, but to protect. Every mentor is vetted, background-checked, and trained before their first session. Every family is kept in the loop.

Across the Eldera team, we have each been shaped by the gap between generations, as grandchildren, as parents, as people who have felt the particular loneliness of being overlooked. It drives everything we build.

Welcome to the era of the elders.

Two Epidemics.
One Untapped Resource.

The youth mental health crisis, the older-adult isolation epidemic, and the collapse of intergenerational connection are converging into a single global emergency — at the precise moment the world's 60+ population is set to double.

1 in 2

young people are lonely. 1 in 3 older adults are lonely. The middle generation carries a double caregiving burden.

Everything You Need to Know.

Eldera's mission is to unlock the time and wisdom of older adults as a new natural resource for all generations to thrive. We do this by connecting vetted adults 60+ with youth ages 6–17 for weekly virtual mentoring sessions — building protective relationships that reduce loneliness on both sides of the connection.
Safety is our primary infrastructure — not an afterthought. Every adult undergoes multi-factor identity verification and a background check before being approved. All sessions are monitored in real-time by our proprietary AI Chaperone, which runs 4 parallel models across 12 risk categories and flags concerns to a human reviewer. Our incident rate is under 3 in 10,000 sessions. Parents are always in the loop.
Our AI is pro-social — it exists to protect and amplify human connection, never to replace it. The AI Chaperone monitors sessions for safety signals across video, voice, text, and sentiment without disrupting the natural flow of conversation. We also use AI for matching and for post-session summaries that help mentors and parents stay connected to the relationship.
Matching is handled by our AI-assisted MatchMaker, which considers a mentor's wisdom profile (background, interests, expertise, communication style) alongside a young person's interests and needs. Parents and mentors both have visibility into who they've been matched with before the first session. You can always request a rematch if the connection isn't working.
You need to be 60 or older, have access to a device with a camera, and be willing to commit to one hour per week. You'll go through a background check, complete a short orientation, and build your Wisdom Profile before being matched. The whole process takes about two weeks from sign-up to first session.
Eldera operates on a pay-it-forward model. Individual memberships start at $20/month. If cost is a barrier, join at no cost under our Sponsored Access tier — no questions asked. See our Membership page for full details.
Eldera offers organizational partnerships starting at $400/pair/year for groups of 100+ seats. For county and government partners, we have a full deployment infrastructure — see our Partners page for details.
Sessions happen weekly via Eldera's secure virtual meeting room — no third-party apps needed. The AI Chaperone runs in the background throughout. After each session, both mentor and mentee receive a brief summary and prompts for next time. Average session length is 44 minutes. Most mentors and mentees describe their sessions as the highlight of their week.
